The last one I gave was the end of NaNoWriMo in November and in the life of a busy, crazy writer girl, a lot can happen in six months!
To start out with, life is hard to plan for. Laughing, of course, but it's true! I had a *perfect* schedule at the beginning of this year. A basic plan for writing, editing, and self-publishing. But I didn't count on having tendinitis in my wrists by the end of January. Erk! I was on complete rest for quite a while (which was hard for me with all those ideas begging to be written down!) and though now I am gradually getting better, I still have to be careful. (Side Note: It's weird to be the only one in that's there for massage-therapy because "you write so much" versus sports like everyone else. Lol!) Well, like you might have guessed, that sure threw a wrench in my beautiful shiny New Year plans.
It's easy to get discouraged when things don't go like you expect. I've had to reevaluate some things, tweak my schedule, and sometimes--just wait to see how things will turn out, without having a solid plan. That's ok! Goals are there to help you, not rule your life. So you've discovered for the 157th time that you're not super-author? Well, that's to be expected. Nobody is perfect, and everyone has things to work through.
So if your plans aren't going the way you'd like, just remember--take a deep breath. Remember why you are doing this. (In my case, I write for Jesus. And He's the one controlling my life, so--that helps put things into perspective!) Decide that you're going to keep on going, even if you have to adjust. Then eat some chocolate, and press on. Alright, the chocolate part is optional. But it does help. (please notice background image in the blog graphic above.)
So, on to Jonas and Olivia. (You may remember this book from seeing it on the Color-Coded Editing Post. It's also listed on my books page.) Though it's taking me longer to edit this book than I would have originally liked, I'm still excited about how things are going. I've rewritten the last few chapters of the books multiple times, tweaked and reworked things and scribbled notes and done more research. It's scheduled to be out (Lord Willing) in June. But, you know schedules! It's the tentative plan. ;)
Anyways, that's what's up with things around here! What have you wonderful writers been up to? I tend to have several WIP (work-in-progress) going at once, but my primary focus right now is Jonas and Olivia. I'd love to know a little about your WIPs, so go ahead and leave a comment with a mini-update on your writing life! :)
You all have a lovely day,
